Spring Break
We had carefully made all our plans months ago for a Spring Break trip. We specifically picked locations to make a 5 day loop with various activities to keep everyone entertained.
One week before the trip, it started to rain. And it rained and rained. The problem wasn’t the rain that happened at our house. It rained along our itinerary. The middle of our trip was a stop at Dinosaur Valley State Park in Glen Rose, TX. Two days before our departure, the Dinosaur Valley State Park Facebook page reported that the trails were flooded. The reason we chose this stop was the trails. We were scrambling trying to change the middle of our itinerary and find an available spot during a very busy week for RV parks.
We found a new spot at an RV park that was about 45 minutes to an hour from the attractions we had selected. Not the exact location that we would have selected, but it worked out fine.
For all the things we can plan and control, it is always important to remember that Mother Nature isn’t one of them. Always stay on top of weather conditions and if necessary, be prepared to make alternate plans.
See Spring Break 2016 under Longer Adventures for our final itinerary.
