Caverns of Sonora, Sonora, TX
The Caverns of Sonora are very interesting and a great day trip. There is a large variation of formations to look at during the guided tour. Tickets can be purchased on the website or in person at the Caverns. Tour times are set as people arrive. On the day of our trips, we arrived mid-day. Our wait for the tour was approximately 30 minutes. There is an interesting gift shop to help pass the time. The tour lasts approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. Admission price is $20/person for 12 and over and ages 4-11 are $16/person.
Also, as noted on the website, this is a warm cave, so leave the jackets and sweatshirts in the car.
It should be noted that the Caverns have a paved paths, but do include some fairly steep inclines and a lot of stairs. While well worth the trip, but sure to account for the age and any physical limitations of the people in your party.

Like the info you give (clothing, stairs, etc).
