Thoughts:
Canyon of the Eagles is a resort located on Lake Buchanan. The resort is well maintained. The roads in the park and around the RV loop are easy to navigate. There is a pool at the main resort building. RVers are allowed use of the pool, unless the resort is full. In that case, priority is given to resort guests. There are tons of walking trails, a stargazer observatory and at certain times of the year, they show family movies and have live music.
We visited this park last August. It was very hot and dry. The vegetation was primarily brown. Visiting again in April offers a completely different perspective of the area. There were tons of wildflowers. We saw roadrunners in the parking lot and unoccupied sites. There were lots of cardinals and squirrels. During certain parts of the year, you can see eagles (although we haven’t been there during that time of year).
The park is very quiet and rustic.
For satellite dish users, there are trees around all of the sites. Initially, we put our dish on a table on the ground, but didn’t pick up any satellites. On the second try, we placed our dish on the roof and were able to get all 3 satellites.
What to do once you get there:
Burnet is located near the Canyon of the Eagles. It is a nice town with an assortment of antique stores and restaurants. We went to the town square and had lunch at Trailblazer Grille. The food and service were both very good. We also attended a car show that was sponsored by a local car club.
